A place for good books

It’s no coincidence that publishing and the monastic tradition have a long common history: wherever spirituality is lived, the everyday is mindfully celebrated, and community is respected, the ideas and thoughts for good books, subtle works of music, and high-quality calendars naturally follow.

Münsterschwarzach Abbey thus forms the perfect framework for the Vier-Türme publishing house, whose name refers to the four towers of the Abbey church which can be seen to mark this extraordinary place for miles around.

The monks of the Abbey founded their own publishing house in 1951, laying the foundation for the diverse program that has made Vier-Türme an established name in German publishing. Subjects such as faith, religion and spirituality, Christian living, self-help, interreligious dialog, liturgy, pilgrimage, and gift books form the core of Vier-Türme’s catalogue, and its authors include Anselm Grün, Christoph Gerhard, Zacharias Heyes, Petra Urban, Corinna Kohröde-Warnken, Linda Jarosch, Tomáš Halík and David Steindl-Rast.

We consider our mission fulfilled when our readers say: “What a good book!” Because for all the diversity of our publishing house, its aim is clear: to give people simply good books with answers to the spiritual questions of our time, waking their enthusiasm for living consciously. That’s what drives us. Every day.
